Frind says many women on the site are actually men pretending to be female
1. First contact cannot be sexual: 'Anyone who tries to get around this rule will be deleted without warning.'
2. Users can only contact others who are not more than 14 years younger or older than themselves. There is 'no reason for a 50 year old man to contact a 18 year old women,' according to POF.
3. Intimate Encounters have been terminated. According to POF statistics, there are 3.3 million people who use the site every day, and of those there are only 6,000 single women looking for intimate encounters. And of those 6,000 women, many are men. 'Intimate Encounters on POF can be summed up as a bunch of horny men talking to a bunch of horny men pretending to be women,' Frind said. -
1.) You cannot send messages containing “sexual references”
I understand girls get bombarded with annoying messages like “wanna fuck bitch”… in fact, I’ve gotten them from undesirable girls (minus the “bitch” part). But, if you watch 5 minutes of any TV sitcom there’s going to be a “sexual reference”. I don’t think censoring messages with “sexual” words is the solution. I mean, this IS a dating site for adults… it’s not a Disney Kids chatroom for Smurfs. I think a better solution is to ban guys who get blocked by multiple girls… especially from girls who have only blocked a small number of guys.
2.) You can only contact people +/- 14 years of your age
This is utter BULLSHIT. If a girl is 22 and says she wants to date guys 24-40, why should POF cockblock her and say “NO, NO, ANY MAN OVER 36 JUST WANTS TO FUCK YOU, DUMMY!” I think the USER should have control over who contacts them… not POF. This is the rule that bothers me the most. I would think in 2013 ridiculous ageism like this would be gone.
3. “Intimate Encounters” option is gone The one rule that actually makes sense.
If you don’t want guys contacting girls for sex, don’t fucking encourage it. This isn’t rocket science Minkus… I mean Markus.
Plenty of Fish scammer going to jail
The victims’ tales were similar: One told her local police her relationship with Li quickly progressed to where she trusted him enough to willingly perform sex acts for him using a webcam. Li conned her into believing he was soon moving to England and, based on their chats, she thought their relationship had a future. He then began spinning a lie about his dad owing $150,000 to dangerous Asian gangsters. One of the victims told her local police agency she soon after started getting text messages from him culminating in threats to send the risqué material to her school if she didn’t come up with £1,000. Interpol linked the investigation back to Winnipeg after Li, a former Investors Group accountant, used his real name and city when telling one of the women where to wire money to. It was this fact, Roller noted, which stood out when weighing Li’s actual intent. “He was fully prepared to follow through,” she ruled. Releasing him into the public to serve a community-based sentence was, in her view, simply “returning Mr. Li to the scene of his crime,” she said. Li will be on probation for two years and barred from online dating sites and the Internet except for work after he gets out. Roller also ordered him to not use Skype unless under supervision.
